On this magnificent (finally!) spring day, I am grateful for magic. We just got back from a meeting with the Big Apple Circus about participating in our incubator this summer, which was set up thanks to a Young Presidents' Organization client and friend.
Apart from an engaging discussion about the many strategic and urgent projects that one of our MBA fellows could help with this summer, it was inspiring and fun to hear about the magic that Big Apple Circus provides. Their classic circus is a show that brings smiles and wonder to tens of thousands of people (aged 1-101, they estimate) every year. They have exciting new plans to expand that number significantly. And many tickets are subsidized or given away, so it's not just a pay-to-play entertainment opportunity.
They also have the world's leading program for clown doctors, just one of the incredible social programs they subsidize almost entirely through ticket sales (their roughly $20 million annual budget is made up of 80% earned income - that's the kind of numbers we like to see!). I'm looking forward to exploring the chance to work with the incredible magicians (in the ring and in the office), to spread more smiles further this summer and beyond!
